Company Background

Lovisa was established in April 2010 and has quickly grown to be one of Australia’s leading specialist fast fashion jewellery retailers. It has over 240 company owned stores across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, South Africa and United Kingdom and franchised stores in the Middle East (Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Bahrain) and Vietnam.

Lovisa strives to be at the forefront of the fast fashion retail industry and pursuant to this mission, has developed a model that ensures trends are quickly identified and its target customers (being fashion conscious females aged 25-45) are provided with a broad, quality product range.

Lovisa has developed a vertically integrated business model, through which it develops, designs, sources and merchandises 100% of its Lovisa branded products.

Lovisa was founded by its Managing Director, Shane Fallscheer, and BB Retail Capital, an investment company established by successful retail entrepreneur Brett Blundy. It opened its first store in Chermside, Queensland in April 2010 and soon after began its international expansion with the opening of its first store in New Zealand (June 2010). On the anniversary of its first year of operations, Lovisa opened its 51st store. It entered South Africa in December 2011, Asia in July 2012 and in Singapore, Malaysia and the United Kingdom in December 2015. The company began its expansion into the United Arab Emirates in November 2013 and opened its first stores in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait in June and July 2014 respectively, Oman in November 2015, Vietnam in July 2016 and Bahrain in November 2016.

Michael Kay

Chairman and Non-Executive Director

A qualified lawyer, Michael Kay brings a wealth of commercial experience to Lovisa. Michael was CEO and Managing Director of listed salary packaging business McMillan Shakespeare, a position he held for six years. Previously, Michael was CEO of national insurer AAMI after serving in a variety of senior roles with that firm. Prior to joining AAMI, he spent 12 years in private legal practice. Michael became Chairman of ASX listed litigation funder, IMF Bentham Ltd (ASX : IMF) in July 2015 and is Chairman of Apply Direct Ltd (ASX : AD1). Michael has also been a non-executive Director of TFS Corporation (ASX : TFC) since February 2015 and is a non-executive Director of Royal Automotive Insurance Pty Limited. Michael holds a Bachelor of Laws from Sydney University.

Shane Fallscheer

Managing Director

Shane Fallscheer is the Managing Director and founder of Lovisa. He has 29 years of experience in retailing operations across Australia, UK and US markets. He was previously in senior management roles with retailers including: General Manager, Sanity Australia; Chief Executive Officer, Sanity UK; Chief Executive Officer, Diva; and Global Retail Chairman and Chief Operating Officer, Rip Curl USA.

James King

Non-Executive Director

James has over 30 years’ experience as a Director and an Executive in major multinational corporations in Australia and internationally. He was previously with Foster’s Group Limited as Managing Director Carlton & United Breweries and Managing Director Foster’s Asia. Prior to joining Foster’s, he spent six years in Hong Kong as President of Kraft Foods (Asia Pacific). He is currently a non executive Director of Pacific Brands, Navitas Ltd and a member of Global Coaching Partnership. Previously James was a Director of JB Hi-Fi Limited, Trust Company Ltd, a member of the Council of Xavier College and Chairman of Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (Victoria). James holds a Bachelor of Commerce from University of New South Wales and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Paul Cave

Non-Executive Director

Paul is a Non-Executive Director of Domino’s Pizza Enterprises Ltd since 2005 and the Chairman and Founder of BridgeClimb. Paul was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 2010 for his services to the tourism industry. Paul has previously worked in marketing and general management roles for B&D Roll A-Door and also founded the Amber Group in 1974, which he sold in 1996. Paul was a founding Director of Chris O’Brien Lifehouse at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, and founding Director of InterRisk Australia Pty Ltd. He is a patron of the Hunter Melanoma Foundation, and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of New South Wales.

Tracey Blundy

Non-Executive Director

Tracey joined BB Retail Capital in 1981 and is the nominated representative of BB Retail Capital on the Board of Lovisa. Over the past 35 years, she has held a number of senior executive positions across BB Retail Capital’s brands, including Chief Executive Officer of Sanity Entertainment and Bras n Things. She is a Board-level advisor across the BB Retail Capital portfolio bringing in-depth knowledge and expertise on retail operations and roll-out strategy. Tracey was a founding shareholder of Lovisa in 2010, and has since been a senior advisor to the Company’s management team. Tracey is currently a Director of BB Retail Capital Pty Limited, Bras N Things Pty Limited and BB Retail Property Pty Limited.

Senior Management

Steve Doyle

Chief Executive Officer

Steve has over 29 years of retail experience both in Australia and internationally; he joined Lovisa in November 2015 as Global General Manager and was appointed to CEO in October 2016.

Steve was most recently with Super Retail Group, where he served 12 years. His most recent role was Managing Director of the Leisure Division. During his time there he developed BCF from start-up, acquired Rays Outdoors and developed a chain in NZ called FCO.

He has also held executive positions with Woolworths, Al Aziza Panda (Saudi Arabia) and Franklins. Steve holds an EMBA from the University of Queensland.

Graeme Fallet

Chief Financial Officer

Graeme brings over 13 years’ experience as an ASX listed CFO, most recently as CFO of Australian Pharmaceutical Industries Limited (ASX: API) a pharmacy wholesaler and retailer with a network of over 400 Priceline and Priceline Pharmacy stores.

Prior to that, Graeme was CFO of Ventracor Limited, a medical device business where he managed the international expansion of the Ventracor business.

Graeme’s experience includes mergers and acquisitions, capital restructuring, equity capital markets, debt refinancing, risk management, and ASX governance.

Graeme is a Chartered Accountant and a Member of the Institute of Company Directors.

Armando Pedruco

General Manager of Sales

Armando Pedruco has over 25 years’ experience in retail and over the last 10 years has been a senior executive with Woolworths and Dick Smith. Armando was Director of Operations at Dick Smith during the divestment from Woolworths and the IPO of Dick Smith in 2013.

Armando re-joined Woolworths in December 2014 before joining Lovisa as General Manager of Sales.

Andrea Haynes

Head of Product

Andrea joined Lovisa at concept stage and is responsible for developing product and ranges in line with fashion trends and customer demand through her team of Buyers.

Andrea’s experience spans 18 years across product development, buying and brand management in all categories of fashion accessories at all levels of the market from High End to High Street.
